Chris’s journey in art began with a simple origami project in school, sparking a passion he has pursued ever since. He finds art to be an escape, a way to 'zone out' and set aside life’s challenges. Chris describes his work as unique, saying, 'it comes from me, and there is only one me.' His preferred media include paper and digital art, with a focus on origami and special effects editing. A fun fact about Chris: he has taken on the role of Bob Cratchit in A Christmas Carol three times.

Artist Statement

Chris is captivated by the transformative power of origami. For him, it’s remarkable how a plain, flat sheet of paper can be folded into intricate shapes, evolving into animals, plants, or other aspects of nature that feel both familiar and surprising. His journey with origami began in elementary school, creating paper balloons, and has since grown into a fascination inspired by the Japanese legend promising a wish to anyone who folds a thousand cranes.

Chris’s work signifies the beauty of change. Like a piece of paper transformed into something entirely new, his art embodies the idea of 'changing for the better.' He sees origami as a reflection of personal growth—a reminder that we can continually improve and become something more than we were.

For Chris, being an artist means capturing elements of nature in ways that invite others to appreciate both the art and the natural world behind it. His art relates to the world as a metaphor for the inevitable changes we all experience. As Chris puts it, 'Change happens to all of us—some accept it, some resist, but we all must adapt in our own ways.'
