Meet The Artists

Lorne Threlkeld Jr.

Access Gallery Artist since 2006

Open for Commissions

I started drawing at a young age because I enjoyed it and felt I had a natural talent

for it. Inspired by the works of Marvel’s Stan Lee as well as DC Comics, I began making my own

characters, story lines and comic book drawings while still in school. I continued drawing

throughout my school years and joined Access Gallery in 2017 while in the transition program at

Jefferson County Public Schools. Over the years, I have developed many characters including

Volcano-Man, Tiki Man, The Villain Landlord and many more. My characters emotions often

cause them to transform, for example Volcano-Man’s head erupt when he’s angry - kind of like

how the Hulk’s emotions cause him to transform. Even though the heroes show a full range of

emotion (like humans) they use their strength to do good in the world. My artwork is unique

because it is filled with imagination, inspiration, and creativity.  So far, I have completed five

comic books, including The Ultimate Volcano Man, Danny and Marion, Super Rebels, Tiki-Man,

The Rise of the Landlord. You can learn more about me and my artwork through Access

Gallery.

Artist Statement

I make art because I love bringing my characters to life and weaving their stories. My work explores both the significance and insignificance of the world around us, reflecting the beauty, chaos, and complexity of life. Each piece starts with an idea, sparked by my imagination. When something grabs my interest, I dive into creating a comic book story, working on comic strip pages for weeks until the story finds its resolution. My art holds deep personal meaning, as it’s a part of who I am and what I love. It also connects to the world beyond me, often drawing from real events, global issues, and the larger narratives shaping our lives.
